For subcostal views – The supine position with knees bent and abdominal muscles relaxed is preferred.

Facing the Patient

You may choose to scan the patient with your left hand whist facing the patient. The machine and settings can be adjusted with your right hand.

Behind the Patient

Alternatively, scan the patient’s heart with your right hand. Stand behind the patient and manipulate the machine settings with your left hand.
