Distributive shock may occur secondary to anaphylaxis, sepsis or be neurogenic in origin. A thorough history and clinical examination should be performed before contemplating a FCU scan.

Focused Cardiac Ultrasound Findings:

  • Hyperdynamic Left Ventricle
  • Normal or Reduced Left Ventricular End Diastolic Area
  • Small Left Ventricular Systolic Area
  • Global or Regional LV Systolic Dysfunction – Sepsis
  • RV Systolic Dysfunction – Sepsis
